Michigan Secretary of State launches fall mobile office college tour, visiting over 20 campuses

LANSING, Mich. – The Secretary of State mobile office will visit over 20 Michigan colleges and universities as part of its 2025 fall college tour for the Michigan Department of State (MDOS). The mobile office will be on campus to help students and staff update or renew a driver’s license or state ID, register to vote, upgrade to a REAL ID, and conduct other transactions typically provided at branch offices.    

"Michigan college students have a lot to keep track of at the start of another busy school year,” Secretary Jocelyn Benson said. “This fall, we’re making things a little easier by bringing the Secretary of State office directly to over 20 colleges and universities around the state. Our mobile office will meet students, faculty, and staff where they are and provide fast, convenient service right on campus.” 

The mobile office college tour kicked off at Michigan State University on Aug. 24, with stops planned at other colleges and universities through early October. The Democracy MVP program, Michigan’s award-winning, nonpartisan poll worker recruitment program, will also be available at select locations to help students sign up to work an upcoming election in their community.

Secretary Benson launched the mobile office program in the fall of 2021 with a single van serving Southeast Michigan. Since then, the fleet has grown to seven vehicles serving the entire state, making stops at senior centers, veterans’ organizations, health fairs, and other community events. In 2025, mobile offices have participated in more than 1,100 events in communities throughout Michigan and conducted nearly 27,000 transactions for residents.
