Hi John,
You gave us our marching orders as politicians come back to Ottawa.
We asked thousands of taxfighters like you what the Canadian Taxpayers Federation should focus on when the House of Commons resumes in September. Here’s what you told us:
About 99 per cent of CTF supporters said it’s important to cut wasteful spending, while 94 per cent said they oppose Prime Minister Mark Carney’s plan to add $225 billion to the debt over the next four years.
Government union bosses are gearing up to fight politicians trying to save you money…
Well, 93 per cent of CTF supporters told us that government bureaucrats are paid too much and more than half said bureaucrats should have their salaries cut by more than five per cent.
CTF supporters are also demanding more government accountability.
Almost 90 per cent of CTF supporters want recall legislation so they can hold politicians accountable between elections and 94 per cent said they support referendum legislation.
I found this result funny: Only one per cent of CTF supporters said the Senate is “very valuable” in its current form.
But that’s only the tip of the iceberg, CTF supporters like you also gave us their thoughts on important issues like carbon taxes, gas and diesel vehicle bans and which premier is the least effective in Canada.
I sat down with CTF Alberta Director Kris Sims and broke down the survey results from taxfighters like you. You can watch (and share the video) on YouTube by clicking this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WrAc5YsF3s
THANK YOU very much for taking the time to fill out the Canadian Taxpayers Federation’s summer survey. We work for you and it really helps when we know what issues matter most to you. Members of Parliament return to Ottawa this month. I hope you will keep fighting with us to push MPs to lower your taxes and stop wasting your money.
Thanks for fighting for taxpayers – you’re making a difference!
All the best,
Franco Terrazzano
Federal Director
Canadian Taxpayers Federation
