Being LGBTQI+ isn’t a disease, and it’s certainly not something that can or should be “fixed” by a therapist.

But right now, the Supreme Court is considering whether to uphold state bans on conversion therapy for minors. This practice has been discredited and condemned by every leading medical and mental health association. It is harmful, dangerous, and puts the well-being of LGBTQ+ youth at risk.

As Vice Chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus, I’m proud to stand with House Democrats in calling on the Court to protect these young people and uphold these bans. But we need to show that the American people are with us.
