Women Winning Holding Space for Grief and Action
[[link removed]]
No child should fear for their life in a place of learning or worship. No parent should ever receive the call that leaves them wondering if their child is alive, dead or wounded. And no community should have to endure the after effects of a mass shooting.
Two children, 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel and 10-year-old Harper Moyski, were tragically killed last Wednesday in an act of senseless gun violence. Eighteen others — including fifteen children and three elderly parishioners — were injured.
We must be clear: this cannot be our normal.
Women Winning is committed to building a future centering safety, dignity, and community. That future is only possible when we elect leaders — especially pro-choice women — who have the courage to take action.
In the 25 states with the strongest gun safety laws, women hold 41% of legislative seats. In the states with the weakest laws, just 28% .* That difference is not a coincidence. It is a reflection of priorities — and of political will.
Our endorsed candidates aren’t waiting for change — they are leading it. They are the ones standing up to the gun lobby, demanding common-sense reform, and refusing to let this kind of violence define our children’s future. This is reproductive justice –not only the right to decide to have children or not have children, but also the ability to raise children in safe and healthy communities.
This past week, our hearts broke with Minneapolis — and with the entire state of Minnesota. Today, we will take action. Take action with us and donate to elect pro-choice women to ensure we can raise our children in safe and healthy communities.

Court dismisses federal lawsuit challenging Minnesota's abortion laws
[[link removed]]
A federal court has dismissed a lawsuit that sought to nullify Minnesota's laws protecting access to abortion, saying the suit lacked standing.
The suit argued that the state's abortion laws terminate parental rights without due process. Women are not being informed about their rights when it comes to the procedure, the lawsuit alleged, resulting in thousands of "involuntary" abortions a year.
Attorney General Keith Ellison was among the defendants named in the suit, along with Gov. Tim Walz, local Planned Parenthood chapters and others.
Abortion access is protected by a 1995 Minnesota Supreme Court decision and a state law guaranteeing a fundamental right to the procedure.
"This latest attack on abortion access in Minnesota is a reminder that anti-choice interest groups are constantly seeking new ways to ban abortion or make reproductive healthcare services harder to obtain," Ellison said after the suit's dismissal. "I am pleased to have defeated this latest attack on abortion in Minnesota, and I will do everything in my power to defend Minnesotans' right to reproductive healthcare."
