John,
In just a few days, members of Congress are holding an important vote on the EARN IT Act that will determine the fate of this dangerous — and unconstitutional — legislation. [1] How they vote depends on whether or not they hear from you.
Call Congress NOW and tell key decision-makers to reject the EARN IT Act and protect free speech online.
TAKE ACTION
The Senate Judiciary Committee is a group of powerful lawmakers who help decide what bills will be debated and voted on. On Thursday, they’ll vote on whether or not the EARN IT Act will continue moving through the Senate.[2]
If all 550,000 people who signed the petition call today, the Senate Judiciary Committee will be so overwhelmed by public opposition to the EARN IT Act that they will prevent it from moving forward. But if they don’t hear anything, they’ll almost certainly pass it out of committee, and then it could become incredibly difficult to stop it.
Want to tell these lawmakers how you feel about a law that will have a HUGE impact on your digital life? We’ve made it easy. Just click on the link below, enter your phone number, and we’ll connect you to the offices of every member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. When you’re done with one call, just press the * key to move on to the next. Talk to one Senator or talk to all of them … just make sure you call today. If we don’t speak up now, we may not have another chance.
Tell the Senate Judiciary Committee to protect free speech online and reject the EARN IT Act.
Best,
Dayton
P.S. We’re hosting a Q&A session on Reddit “Ask Me Anything” right now along with Alfred Ng from CNET, and folks from EFF and the Open Technology Institute. If you have questions about the EARN IT act, feel free to jump in and ask! Go to https://www.reddit.com/r/iama and look for our thread.
