'Making the law work: Expanding abortion access in Mozambique'
We are happy to share a new resource created in collaboration with former SAAF grantee partner The International Centre for Reproductive Health in Mozambique (ICRH-M).
This provides practical tips and information on how ICRH-M expanded access to safe abortion in Mozambique, using SAAF funding. Over four years they provided just under 5,500 women and girls with access to safe abortion care.
We encourage you to read and share the resource, which is now available on our website in English, French and Spanish.
Thank you to all our partners who responded to a comprehensive external evaluation on our funding practices. In case you missed it, we shared an overview of the results here. We are delighted to see that the organisations we support feel that our funding is flexible and accessible.
87% of respondents agreed that SAAF had helped strengthen their capacity beyond just providing a grant.
97% of respondents agreed that SAAF had supported them in connecting with other SAAF grantee partners.Â
All respondents agreed with the statement: “SAAF considers its grantee partners’ voices in its work".
Updates from SAAF grantee partners
Tamtang Coordinator Chompoo shows their clinic registration documents.
Rwanda has removed mandatory parental consent for young people seeking reproductive health services. This expands access to contraception for young people under 18. New SAAF grantee partner Medical Doctors for Choicehas written about the policy change here.
Long-term SAAF grantee partner Tamtang Foundation has opened their own abortion clinic in Thailand. In addition to their advocacy work to improve access to abortion, Tamtang wanted to directly serve abortion-seekers and demonstrate what feminist, accessible abortion care really looks like.
SAAF is hosted by IPPF. If you wish to report anything which concerns you about our work, or the work of our grantee partners (such as abuse, fraud, malpractice) please consider using the confidential external incident reporting service IPPF SafeReport.
