Dear John,
Last week, Mainers came together at Bug Light Park for our Raise the Flag for Public Lands event—a powerful, joyful reminder of what we’re fighting for. With handcrafted flags waving against the summer sky, we celebrated cherished lands and waters in Maine and sent a clear message: our public lands are not for sale. But this fight doesn’t end at the shoreline. The Trump administration’s attacks on public lands and waters are just one piece of a much bigger effort by polluters and their allies to strip away environmental protections.
Here in Maine, we have the chance to push back and chart a different course—but only if we keep showing up. |

This fall and into the 2026 legislative session, we’ll be working hard to pass key priorities, including: - Climate Superfund / Make Polluters Pay Act: Holds Big Oil accountable for the climate damages caused by their pollution.
- Energy Fairness Act: Protects Mainers from rising energy costs and increases electric bill transparency.
- Recognize Wabanaki Sovereignty: Honors the Wabanaki Nations’ inherent sovereignty and restores the right to tribal self-determination.
- Fund Land for Maine’s Future: Protects Maine forests, farmlands, and working waterfronts, ensures public access, and fights climate change.

Join one of MCV’s monthly volunteer calls
- Bring a municipal resolution in support of Climate Superfund to your town council

And once the legislative session is back in full swing, you’ll have opportunities to: - Give public testimony at the State House

- Join us to stand in support at legislative hearings
