We hope this email finds you and your loved ones are safe and well. Watching difficult events unfold over recent months, we at Friends of the Everglades have found strength in our roots. Our founder, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, used her activism to speak up for the voiceless and mobilize the public to safeguard the only Everglades in the world. We believe Marjory, with her fighting spirit, would be proud of the political will Bullsugar has built for clean water in Florida. 

As our new allies through the 2019 merger of Bullsugar Alliance and Friends of the Everglades, you also inspire and give us hope. Together, we stand as the single best hope for creating the change Marjory envisioned: to preserve, protect, and restore the Everglades and its connecting waterways. Today we invite you to follow Marjory's lead and become a Founding Member of our new alliance of donors. 

In these challenging times, we need loyal supporters to power and sustain our organization. By joining Marjory's Circle, you will help power our advocacy, scientific research, and litigation. You will advance our legacy of impact, which has included:

  • Helping to stop a major jetport from being built north of Everglades National Park.
  • Legal action to set enforceable water-quality standards for the Everglades.
  • Funding research into the harmful effects of methylmercury in the Everglades.
  • Opposing road and development projects that threaten the Everglades, including the recent State Road 836 extension in Miami-Dade.
  • Advocacy to protect the public from the acute health threats of toxic algae blooms. 

Despite decades of attention and investment in restoration, much work remains to save the greater Everglades ecosystem. Our power is in our numbers, and we ask for your help at this critical time to carry us forward.
