This week marked Labor Day, and just in time for this important holiday, Trump engaged in more union-busting, anti-worker antics.
His anti-labor rights White House has terminated union contracts at more federal agencies, including NASA and the National Weather Service, here in Northeast Ohio. This move strips away the union rights of half a million federal workers.
This follows Trump’s efforts just weeks ago to eliminate collective bargaining agreements for most Veterans Affairs employees. These political attacks on workers’ rights will undermine the morale and mission of these agencies. Not to mention, Trump’s union busting in the public sector will ripple to the private sector – hurting working men and women everywhere.
This is not leadership. This is cowardice.
But we have a solution: As Congress returns to Washington, I am calling on my colleagues to pass the Protect America’s Workforce Act, which will restore collective bargaining protections and send a clear message that the days of bullying hardworking Americans are over.
Breaking up unions is all about consolidating power and punishing public servants for daring to speak up. We must fight back.
In solidarity,
