*LCB Action: Rulemaking Started on Research and Development Requirements for Cannabis*
*On Sept. 3, 2025, the Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) took the following action:*
The LCB filed a Preproposal Statement of Inquiry (CR-101) to consider amending chapter 314-55 WAC to clarify testing and sample requirements as part of Research and Development (R&D) activities.
This filing is the first step in the rulemaking process and is in response to a petition for rulemaking [ [link removed] ] accepted by the Board in May 2025. This rulemaking will also follow up on recently completed rulemaking under WSR 25-08-032 [ [link removed] ] to consider requirements for internal quality control sampling used during product development to clarify definitions and requirements related to cannabis research and development (R&D) activities.
