[ [link removed] ]Minneapolis Recap: Answering Our Call
John—
Our nation has experienced immeasurable grief since a shooter opened fire
and killed two children and wounded 21 more people at Annunciation
Catholic School last week.
As we mourn and begin to process the weight of this horrific event in
Minneapolis on top of the daily gun violence communities face across the
country, one thing must remain clear: tragedies like this cannot be our
norm.
Many of you agree with us—and responded with urgency, determination, and
action by demanding Congress pass a federal ban on assault weapons.

your lawmakers today.

Last week, in the face of heartbreak, gun safety advocates channeled their
grief into action. Thousands gathered at a vigil in Lynnhurst Park,
organized by Students Demand Action volunteers, to honor the victims.
Hundreds more volunteers showed up to rally at the Minnesota Capitol and
called for a state ban on assault-style weapons and high-capacity
magazines. Nationwide, over 25,000 people joined the call, urging their
representatives to act.
Thanks to your support and action, we're seeing lawmakers answer our call:
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is urging a special session to ban assault
weapons, bringing us one step closer to a safer Minnesota. But we're not
letting up—students are walking out of classrooms across the country on
Friday to send a message to lawmakers that they refuse to let them throw
their futures away.
[ [link removed] ]John, help us keep up the pressure and send a message urging
your federal lawmakers to pass a ban on assault weapons NOW.
Together, we can work to make sure tragedies like this never happen again.
