Dear Friends --
Good news! SB 79 just passed the Assembly Appropriations Committee late last week. It now goes to a vote on the Assembly floor – and we need an all-out push from YIMBYs across California this week to help it pass.
Will you send a message urging your Assemblymember to vote YES on SB 79?

Everything is on the line. SB 79 is just a couple of votes away from heading to the Governor's desk, and NIMBYs and MAGA influencers have turned up the pressure on Assemblymembers to push them to vote no. The amount of right-wing misinformation about SB 79 that's flooding into Assembly offices this week is truly shocking.
The truth: SB 79 does not apply anywhere in the Pacific Palisades. It does not apply in counties with less-frequent transit services – like Marin County, San Bernardino County, or Ventura County. It even has new provisions that will help local governments make robust preparations for fire safety. And it still has strong protections against displacement.
Here's what SB 79 will actually do: Help address housing affordability by increasing the supply of homes near major transit stations, while also bolstering transit use – and the funding stability of our public transportation systems.
SB 79 will make it easier for all Californians to afford to live near transit. SB 79 will reduce climate pollution.
Even if you've already sent a message, we need you to send one again this week. NIMBYs and MAGA are flooding Assembly offices with anti-SB 79 propaganda. With your help, we can push back – and pass this important bill.
Assemblymembers need to hear from you right now. Will you send your message urging them to vote YES on SB 79?
Thank you so much for stepping up in this critical moment.
