![]() John, there’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it: Trump’s trade war is killing rural Montana. Look, agriculture is the engine of our state. One out of every six workers here is employed in an agriculture-related industry, and they contribute billions of dollars to Montana’s economy every year. More than ever, we need leaders who understand what farmers and ranchers are going through right now. Instead, we have a President who has jacked up the cost of machinery, the cost of maintenance, the cost of inputs, and the cost of living. And what have Montana Republicans done about it? Absolutely nothing.
This isn’t complicated, John: Tariffs are a tax on the American people — and no amount of convoluted arguments can change that simple fact. Today, our farmers are paying record amounts of money for everyday necessities. Now, they can’t even profit off a bushel of wheat, since more and more countries are refusing to do business with Donald Trump and his insane economic policy. Thanks to Donald Trump, Montana farmers, ranchers, and consumers are paying the cost of the single largest tax increase in a generation. At the same time, Montana Republicans are more than happy to stick us with the bill. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
