Being Culturally Competent With Your Prevention Program
Campus Drug Prevention recently debuted the 2025 edition of the Prevention With Purpose web series, with videos featuring prominent members of the prevention field highlighting the steps of the Strategic Prevention Framework.
This week, September Dibble, Director of Health Education at Wesleyan University, guides you through cultural competence.
This is the ability of an individual or organization to interact effectively with members of various populations on campus. At a college or university, this means understanding that specific student communities on your campus may have very different ways of thinking about and understanding issues related to drug use and misuse.

The full series, a complement to Prevention with Purpose: A Strategic Planning Guide for Preventing Drug Misuse Among College Students, can be accessed on its dedicated hub.
