John, a devastating 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan’s mountainous eastern region late on Sunday, triggering powerful aftershocks that left a trail of destruction.

The death toll has risen to over 1,400 with thousands more children and families affected. The full extent of the damage and threats to children remains unclear due to blocked roads and damaged communication lines, which are slowing down rescue efforts.
