As a policymaker, I always try to understand the other side’s argument. Usually, I can at least see their point – even if I don’t agree with it.

But the President’s latest decision [[link removed]] to halt renewable energy production in Connecticut is truly baffling to me. Last month, he abruptly ordered construction to stop at Revolution Wind, a major wind farm being completed off the coast of Rhode Island. 65 wind turbines were being built and assembled here in Connecticut, and the project was already 80% complete. Soon, it would begin providing energy for more than 350,000 homes.

More than 1,000 workers were told not to show up to work last month after the Trump Administration ordered the project to come to a halt. That order threatens New England’s entire electric grid, risking rolling blackouts and virtually guaranteeing higher energy bills.

I know the President is no fan of renewable energy, but why stop a project that is already 80% finished? Why cut off New England’s supply of electricity when energy bills are already far too high?

I can’t for the life of me understand what the President is thinking on this one.
