Still hungry: Students in public schools across the country are being starved by scanty academic standards that often place more emphasis on “intersectionality” and “activism” than the treasures of Western civilization.
- “In K-12 (primary and secondary) schools in the U.S., academic standards are the equivalent of airline food…. The standards are broad, often lacking details—but, like airline passengers, teachers and students are a captive audience with few alternatives,” writes Jonathan Butcher, acting director of the Center for Education Policy.
- Putting the “haute cuisine” of education—classical content—back on the menu is part of the solution.
