The United States Supreme Court struck down a Louisiana law that would’ve left the state with just one abortion clinic.

Friend,

Yesterday, the United States Supreme Court struck down a Louisiana law that would’ve left the state with just one abortion clinic.

The law required doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privilege at nearby hospitals. This unnecessarily restrictive law would have devastated a woman’s right to choose in Louisiana, and we in New Jersey are pleased that the Supreme Court stuck to the legal precedent to protect women’s reproductive rights.

While we can celebrate yesterday's decision, we must also remember that this law was passed by legislators at the state-level and argued over in federal courts for years. Local elections matter in passing fair legislation, and judicial nominations at the state- and federal-level have big implications for progressive priorities like reproductive rights.

Will you contribute today to help us elect Democrats up and down the ballot who will advance our priorities?

This SCOTUS decision makes clear that we must elect Democrats at all levels of government who will protect and expand our rights. We must also elect officials who will nominate Judges who are fit to sit on the bench (unlike President Trump’s appointments). And finally, we must gain majorities in state legislatures and in the U.S. Senate where these majorities have gone unchecked. Will you contribute today to make this happen?

Thanks,

NJ Dems
