From our factories to our farms, our classrooms to our hospitals, Wisconsin workers are the backbone of our state. Their hard work keeps our communities strong — and their voices in the labor movement have won the rights we all count on today.
I grew up in a union household, where I learned early that when you fight for workers, you fight for stronger families, stronger communities, and a stronger economy.
And nowhere has that fight been more important than here in Wisconsin. From the Milwaukee Labor Council to our teachers and public employees, Wisconsin's labor movement has always led the fight for working people.
We've seen what happens when politicians like Scott Walker try to tear down our labor movement. But Wisconsin's workers are tough — and they always stand back up.
On this Labor Day, we celebrate the victories that built America's middle class: the 40-hour workweek, health insurance, family leave, safe workplaces — and yes, even weekends. These rights weren't handed down — they were fought for. And that fight isn't over.
Because when workers thrive, Wisconsin thrives. That's why I'll always stand shoulder to shoulder with Wisconsin's working families.
Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and meaningful Labor Day.
