I wanted to share a bit about what Labor Day means to me.
Friend,
On Labor Day, I wanted to share a bit about what this holiday means to me — and why we need to continue fighting to expand union protections here in Pennsylvania.
From first responders who step up bravely in times of tragedy, to nurses fighting at the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic, to working parents juggling jobs and child care, to construction workers like my dad, who put in 40 years with Operating Engineers Local 542, every single worker deserves our applause — and our relentless advocacy.
I have my own union story: In 2012, I was illegally fired from a job I loved when my co-workers and I attempted to form a union. We were asking for fair wages and to be treated with respect. It seemed like a simple request, but the response was quick and brutal.
