Dear John,
This Labor Day, we pause as a nation to honor the dignity of work and the men and women who labor to build families, communities, and prosperity. From the beginning, God Himself ordained work as a blessing—not a curse. In Genesis, the Lord placed Adam in the garden “to tend and keep it” (Genesis 2:15). Work was part of God’s perfect design, giving us purpose, creativity, and the joy of stewardship.
Sadly, today’s culture often demeans work, celebrates idleness, or promotes dependence on government. But Scripture reminds us that our labor is sacred when done “as unto the Lord and not to men” (Colossians 3:23). Work is tied directly to freedom. A people who work diligently and honestly will never be enslaved by tyranny, but a people who surrender responsibility to the state lose both liberty and dignity.
As we enjoy this holiday with family and friends, let us thank God for the opportunity to labor with our hands, to provide for those we love, and to build a nation rooted in truth and liberty. May we also recommit ourselves to defending the freedom that allows every American to work, create, and prosper under God.
From all of us at Truth & Liberty, may your Labor Day be blessed with rest, gratitude, and renewed purpose in Christ.
