Hi Friend,

Reagan asked me to forward this email to our closest supporters and make sure they saw it before the end of the month. If you haven’t had the chance to read about the findings of the audit last week, I highly recommend reading below.

Today is the final deadline before we report our August fundraising totals. If you would be willing to make a quick donation ([link removed]) to help us reach our end-of-month goal ([link removed]) , it would be a HUGE help! Every cent raised will be used to help Reagan continue to fight for accountability and fiscal responsibility and to keep our communities affordable.

To: Friend

Friend,

Yesterday, the King County Council heard the final report of an audit I called for of the Department of Community and Human Service's taxpayer funded contracts. The results of the audit were jaw dropping.

While grant funding increased from $22 million in 2019-20 to more than $1.5 BILLION in 2023-24, accountability was nowhere to be seen. The audit uncovered shocking abuses: potential fraud, payments to unapproved subcontractors, altered or forged documents, overspending, and even taxpayer funds being withdrawn as cash.

Let me be clear, this waste of taxpayer dollars is an unmitigated disaster.

I have been warning about a lack of accountability for years, which is why I requested this audit back in 2023. Sadly, my worst fears have been proven right, and I have already introduced legislation to increase accountability and transparency of these funding programs.

Friend, when I talk about being the last line of defense in King County, this is what I mean. Without my persistent demands for this audit to be conducted, these scandalous findings might have never come to light.

That’s why I’m running for reelection — to fight waste and fraud, protect taxpayers, and keep our communities affordable. But I can’t do it alone. Will you chip in $75, $50, or even $25 today to ensure King County has a voice standing up against fraud and waste? ([link removed])

This election is too important to ignore! Taxpayers literally cannot afford to continue to pay for higher taxes while funding millions of dollars of fraud and waste. I am fighting to protect your pocketbook at the King County Council. With your support, we can win this November and continue to safeguard taxpayer dollars.
