WA Green Amendment~ The Washington Green Amendment strategic team continues to work toward passing a Green Amendment in Washington State to secure the inalienable right to a healthy environment. To further that goal in September of this year, Maya K. van Rossum, the dynamic speaker and founder of the Green Amendment National movement, will tour Washington State to spread the word about the need for and benefits of a Green Amendment.
The WA Green Amendment Tour will include town hall presentations in these six Washington State locations:

20 Days to Sun Day! Sun Day is a national celebration of solar and wind power on September 21, 2025 (the fall equinox). Solar energy is now the cheapest source of power on the planet, and Sun Day is our chance to do something about the climate crisis by spreading a positive message about solar power.

350 Seattle ~ We did something big at 350 Seattle. We’ve become a “membership”-based organization! And we are in the midst of our first-ever membership drive. Can you help us make it a success by becoming a member today?
Like many nonprofits, we're facing serious fundraising challenges in 2025. The second Trump administration has created instability, and many foundations are pulling back from funding climate justice work under pressure.
That means grants we’ve relied on are disappearing — and it’s putting our future at risk. Plus foundations come with strings attached, and right now, groups like ours are caught in the crossfire. What that really means is uncertainty for our work, our organizing, and our mission: to challenge systems of power and fight for a just, sustainable world where we can all thrive. We of course remain committed to that fight especially as climate progress is rolled back and authoritarianism is on the rise. And so to keep going, it's clear we need to build independent power by working to deepen support from grassroots community members like yourself.

Northwest Against Nuclear Weapons (NWAMW)~ King County Council, representing Washington's most populous municipality, unanimously signed a proclamation on Tuesday, August 19th, posthumously commemorating the 80th anniversary of the US Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Led by Councilwoman Theresa Mosqueda, the proclamation goes beyond the act of remembrance and calls out the dangers of the present moment, stating "The nine nuclear powers are once again expanding their nuclear arsenals, with the US pledging nearly $2 trillion in “modernization” efforts, and the last arms control treaty between the US and Russia set to expire in February 2026, causing the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists to set the Annual Doomsday Clock to an unprecedented 89 seconds to midnight".
Speakers at the meeting included Ploughshares Board Chair Gretchen Hund, Catholic peace activist Jim Thomas, and From Hiroshima to Hope board member Stan Shikuma.
"Local voices like yours have an essential role. We cannot wait for Washington or the UN to act, change begins in our communities", said Gretchen Hund, a nuclear proliferation expert and leader of the Ploughshares Fund, the largest foundation in the US focused on nuclear weapons issues.

Donald Trump and his handpicked head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Lee Zeldin, would like you to believe that burning fossil fuels doesn’t endanger people or our planet. They’d also like you to believe that the EPA shouldn’t have the power or responsibility to regulate climate pollution, and that if we bury our heads in the sand, the climate crisis will simply disappear. The mission of the EPA — the Environmental Protection Agency — is to protect human health and the environment. And Lee Zeldin doesn’t get to abandon that mission just because it would benefit a few Big Oil billionaires. News broke earlier this week that the Trump administration was trying to undo the “endangerment finding,” which grants the EPA the power to limit fossil fuel pollution under the Clean Air Act.1 It’s the bedrock upon which many of our country’s efforts to combat the climate crisis have been built. And if the Trump administration gets its way, climate experts are warning that it will result in more climate pollution and more extreme climate disasters.2 Phil, ending the EPA’s ability to regulate climate pollution benefits exactly one group: climate polluters. If they win this fight, we’ll see untold damage to our health and our planet. We need to remind Zeldin that he doesn’t lead the Environmental Destruction Agency, and that he doesn’t serve the fossil fuel industry. He serves to protect people and the health of our environment.
