Dear Jack,

Everything about Gavin Newsom’s gerrymander scheme is dishonest, phony, and—most importantly—a rejection of the Constitution and the democratic process.

The law is crystal clear: the independent Citizens Redistricting Commission draws California’s congressional districts. The Commission drew the lines in 2020 and was not scheduled to redraw them until 2030.

Instead, Newsom unconstitutionally redrew the maps. His excuse is that the special election he called for—if he wins—will forgive his actions. But we know the truth: this power grab is about politics and his presidential ambitions.

California just released the ballot title and summary for Prop 50 and it is laughably partisan. It hides the true cost of the Gavinmander, claiming counties will spend “a few million dollars statewide…to update election materials.”

The truth? The state already promised to pay for this election–estimated to cost at least $200 million. Newsom doesn’t want voters to see the massive waste of taxpayer dollars on his power play.

Even worse, Prop 50 claims the Commission will be “retained.” That’s absurd. The entire point of Newsom’s special election is to overrule the Commission and put politicians back in charge of drawing their own districts—picking their voters instead of voters choosing their leaders.

We must defeat Prop 50. If we lose, Republican seats will be eliminated forever. That means fewer voices for California conservatives, the loss of our House majority, and President Trump’s legacy put at risk.

Democrats are targeting me because they know I’ve fought against their schemes, power grabs, and radical policies for my entire career. And they know I’ll never stop.
