Chicago will not tolerate Donald Trump making threats against our city. I spent my week fighting back against Trump's overreach.
1. Stood with Governor Pritzker Against Trump's Takeover Plans
The city of Chicago does not want or need the military deployed to our streets. Donald Trump's threat to send the National Guard to Chicago is a gross overreach by a President who wants to cosplay as tough by bullying his own citizens. His talk about ‘law and order’ is a smokescreen for yet another power grab on his quest to become a dictator.
Chicagoans will not be intimidated by a thug. The moment Trump deploys troops, Chicago should take a page out of California’s playbook and sue. I will do everything in my power to work with our local and state governments to protect my constituents. On Monday, I stood alongside Governor Pritzker in opposition to this attack on Chicago.

2. Attended Indivisible Chicago's Town Hall
Yesterday, I was lucky to join Indivisible Lakeview/Lincoln Park/Old Town for a town hall meeting. I took questions on everything from Trump's threat to deploy the National Guard to the future of health care in the United States. Thank you to Indivisible for inviting me and to everyone who joined us.
This week, the Chicago Ukrainian community celebrated 34 years of Ukraine's independence from Russia. I was honored to join the celebrations and continue to stand with Ukraine against Russia's war of aggression.
We will not back down. Slava Ukraini!
