ICYMI: USDA IMPLEMENTING MY PLAN TO LOWER COST OF CROP INSURANCE FOR NEXT GENERATION The other week, the USDA announced it’s starting to implement legislation I introduced to lower the cost of crop insurance for the next generation of Iowa farmers. My bill was included in the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill,” ensuring young farmers can get more affordable crop insurance. TEAM FEENSTRA ATTENDING THE IOWA SOYBEAN ASSOCIATION SUMMER SOY SERIES This week, our Regional Director — Abby — attended the Iowa Soybean Association Summer Soy Series in Holstein. As part of the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill,” we increased outdated reference prices for soybeans and strengthened crop insurance. I’ll continue to be a strong voice for our farmers! WORKING TO ENSURE OUR COMMUNITIES RECEIVE THE RELIEF THEY NEED Our office has returned more than $3.2 million in FEMA dollars to our counties and communities. Iowans are resilient, and when disaster strikes, we rally around each other and recover stronger than before. I’ll continue to ensure our communities receive the relief they need. ONE LAST THING: SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH National Preparedness Month is a great time to take small steps that make a big difference in being prepared. Taking time today to prepare yourself for emergencies and disasters will be important to respond to emergencies and disasters down the road. MY WEEKLY COLUMN: "ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL" DELIVERS FOR IOWA SENIORS In the 1930s, the Social Security Act was enacted to protect American seniors from poverty, unemployment, and other issues. Over the years, the benefits provided by this law have grown to become a crucial safety net for our seniors and retirees. Each year, approximately 57.6 million people aged 65 or older receive Social Security benefits and about 40% of older Americans rely solely on Social Security for their retirement income. Without Social Security, 37% of older adults would fall below the poverty line. This safety net is an important investment in the future of the United States that provides certainty to retiring workers. Read more from my weekly column below.
