COC Connections August 2025
Stand Against Trump's Efforts to Erase Black History
Donald Trump is actively trying to rewrite history.
The White House has announced efforts to conduct a review of the Smithsonian museums and expressed frustration over their portrayal of dark parts of America's history, including slavery. This is just another piece of the Trump administration’s neo-segregationist agenda designed to turn back our progress, erase our history, and halt our freedoms.
To be clear: there would be no America without slavery and to deny that is the denial of truth. We know this administration has no interest in the truth. That’s why Color of Change will stand as a vanguard to the truth and protect and preserve our stories, our culture, and our past, no matter how ugly the truths are.
Black history is American history; together, we must preserve and protect it against erasure. Join us in our fight to protect the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the associated museums that protect and preserve the historical integrity of this country!

The Latest on COC's Black Tech Agenda
Technology should empower Black communities, not exploit them. But right now, Big Tech is deepening racial, economic, and environmental injustice around this country. That is why Color of Change launched two bold new campaigns under our Black Tech Agenda.
- Fair Price, Fair Pay is fighting for fair wages and protections for Black gig workers exploited by algorithm-driven apps.
- The Utility Campaign is exposing how data centers are driving up utility prices in Black neighborhoods and organizing to stop it.
Fair Pay, Fair Price
This month, Color Of Change launched the “Fair Pay, Fair Price” campaign aimed at combatting systems that underpay Black app-based workers and upcharge Black customers.
Uber, DoorDash and Lyft will pay one driver $20 but only pay another $12 for the same amount of work. The difference? Hidden algorithms that discriminate based on who you are and where you live. It’s not surprising that these algorithms disproportionately impact Black workers. Black people make up 23% of app-based workers — nearly double their representation in the overall workforce — yet consistently earn less for identical work, according to CNBC.
That’s why Color Of Change has endorsed the Empowering App-Based Workers Act to accomplish several goals, including:
-Forcing companies to reveal how corporations use hidden algorithms to determine pay
-Guaranteeing workers at least 75% share of what customers pay, and
-Putting a ban on deceptive compensation practices.
You can join us by demanding fair pay protections for app-based workers and calling for accountability from companies that perpetuate wage discrimination.

Color Of Change tackles Digital Redlining to save you money!
Color Of Change is fighting back against utility companies’ $29 billion rate hike. We are engaging stakeholders at multiple levels of government with a simple ask: to stop approving rate increases and utility expansion plans that benefit corporations at the expense of Black people. Our work is gaining momentum in South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia.
If you are a Color Of Change member in one of these states, check your inbox and socials for information about our next action to speak out against digital redlining.
Clearview AI is violating your privacy. Here’s what you need to know and what to do about it!
Clearview AI is still profiting from stolen photos, including yours. And they are handing them over to the police. Clearview AI has stolen over 50 billion images from social media and websites — without anyone’s permission. They have created one of the largest facial recognition databases in the world using illegal and unethical practices on the backs of everyday people like us. They sell access to this database to law enforcement, ICE, and government agencies, including in your own state. That means they’re giving police and prosecutors the ability to target you, your family, and your community, all without your knowledge or consent. But Color Of Change is working on a plan.
Your state Attorney General can hold Clearview AI and other bad actors like them accountable, but they need to hear from you. We've gained thousands of signatures thanks to members like you, and we need your help to keep up the momentum.
Join us in our fight a virtual world that is safe for Black people!
