Dear Colleagues and Friends of Gamaliel:
After deep reflection and much prayer, I have decided that it is time to make space for new leadership as Executive Director of the Gamaliel Network at the end of 2025. This is not a decision I have made lightly, as some of the most meaningful and transformative experiences of my life have occurred in my 35 years with Gamaliel.
From my earliest days organizing in Denver more than 45 years ago, to leading campaigns that shaped policy and expanded justice, to serving as Gamaliel’s Executive Director since 2012, I have been blessed beyond measure to work alongside such a faithful, committed, and courageous network of leaders. Together, we have fought for immigrant rights, created pathways to jobs, challenged systems of injustice, and deepened connections by living our values. I have witnessed the power of our shared ministry to not only change policies, but more importantly, to transform racially and economically inequitable systems and to create fully inclusive communities.
This transition marks the end of my role as Executive Director, but it is not the end of my work as an organizer. My passion for justice remains alive and strong, and I look forward to finding new ways to partner with you. I am confident that our shared work will continue to connect us as we press forward toward equity and freedom.
I want to thank each of you for the trust, encouragement, and solidarity you have shown me throughout these years. It is my sincere hope that affiliates, investors, and supporters will continue to sustain Gamaliel’s mission. I leave assured that with renewed leadership and your ongoing support, Gamaliel will not only endure but grow stronger than ever.
Coming soon: Details on an October 25th retirement celebration/fundraiser reception in Chicago with the program available via zoom.
In faith and solidarity,
