Hi, John!
I was born and raised in D.C., and it hurts to see my city under attack. The deployment of the National Guard here is no coincidence. Our communities are being targeted because of who we are, the strength we carry, and the history we represent.
D.C. has always been more than just a city. We are the heartbeat of protest, the ground zero of movements, a gathering place for those demanding justice. From the 1963 March on Washington to "Don't Mute DC" in 2019 and the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests — we have always fought together.
What’s happening in D.C. is real, but so is our legacy. History reminds us that when we come together, we cannot be erased or ignored. Our voices, our presence, and our unity will carry us forward.
