As a professor of environmental policy, I know all too well how much work we still have to do to address climate change and its devastating impact on our communities. I also know that we need leaders like my husband fighting for these urgent solutions in Congress.

As a mother of two, I've seen firsthand how critical paid family leave policies, affordable childcare services, and a high-quality education are to set this generation up for success. But with Betsy DeVos undermining the needs of Colorado students left and right, we need leaders like Jason who are ready and willing to fight back.

Jason and I first decided to step up and run for Congress because we were inspired by people across the country who stood up for their values following President Trump's election in 2016. And once again, we are seeing the strength and passion of everyday people standing up to their leadership to say enough is enough. Jason withstood countless attacks from national dark money groups and the special interests the first time around, and we know this year won't be any different. President Trump has already made several visits to Colorado to raise money, fire up his base, and help his hand-picked candidates -- including Jason's opponent -- unseat our state's best servant leaders this year.

We absolutely can't let that happen. There's entirely too much at stake to risk losing Jason and our House majority this November. This is a battleground district, which means we need to raise even more than most to combat the outside dark money that will start pouring into our state once the Colorado primary is over this month.

Jason and I have never backed down from a tough fight. We are hardworking, passionate people dedicated to helping our families and our neighbors succeed. But, most importantly, we are dedicated to making our communities work for everyone -- not just the wealthy and well-connected.
