Trump Says He Hears “Great Things” — We Know What He Needs to Hear
Next
On August 11, President Trump said:
“I’ve heard great things having to do with medical [cannabis]…
for pain and various things. I’ve heard some pretty good
things.”
He’s right.
But he needs to know: rescheduling alone doesn’t finish the
job.
|
We are only at this moment because of the work patients and ASA
members have done for over two decades:
-
We created the legal frameworks for state medical programs.
-
We developed the product safety protocols that underpin today’s
testing standards.
-
We pressed the WHO and UN to acknowledge cannabis’ medical value,
leading to modernized scheduling.
-
We secured DOJ appropriations protections year after year—the only
guardrail shielding patients, providers, and professionals from
federal prosecution.
HHS’s recent recognition that cannabis has “currently
accepted medical use” is the only reason we are talking about
rescheduling...This is the result of our investment in this
strategy—and in each other.
|
DC IS LISTENING...BUT PATIENTS HAVE TO TELL THEM WHAT WE
NEED |
WE CAN DO THIS!
This year, when the White House tried to undermine
our federal protections, we convened national patient organizations,
went to Capitol Hill, and pushed Congress to restore
them.

Today, The Hill published my
op-ed, “A Bold, Beautiful Strategy for Trump’s Medical
Cannabis Policy,” which includes a plan to build a real medical pathway
forward.

TAKE ACTION!
This Labor Day Weekend, join
Great Things for Medical Cannabis Weekend and show
the country that patients made this moment—and must lead what comes
next.
|
1. Flood the feeds. Join the Great
Things campaign—post your story, like and share others. We start
amplifying patient voices at 1:30 PM
today |
|
|
2. Share the strategy. My op-ed, “A
Bold, Beautiful Strategy for Trump’s Medical Cannabis Policy,” is
live in The Hill. Read and share widely. |
|
|
3. Fuel the fight. ASA is briefing
lawmakers as Congress returns next week—but we need urgent resources
to win. |
|
|
Let’s be clear: Cannabis policy is in play
because of patients. And patients must lead what comes next.
But that can’t happen unless we invest in ourselves and capture this
moment.
Thank you for 23 years of “Great Things.”
Now let’s finish this.
