AIPAC’s favorite House Democrat, Rep. Ritchie Torres, is personally profiting from Israel’s genocide in Gaza, which he is directly enabling in Congress.

A new report from Sludge reveals Torres invested in Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and L3Harris — three of the largest U.S. weapons manufacturers supplying weapons and bombs to the Israeli military.

He made the investments last September, failing to report them within the 45-day period required by law. Both before and after Torres added these defense contractors to his investment portfolio, he led the charge for supplying billions of dollars in U.S. arms transfers to Israel, including the $17 billion arms package passed in April 2024.

Not only that, but Torres insisted there be no interruption to the flow of weapons to Israel, even after it was clear the Israeli government was committing war crimes against Palestinians. He even opposed President Biden’s short pause in 2,000-pound bomb shipments, joining Republicans in an attempt to override him.

Ritchie Torres is exactly what’s wrong with the Democratic Party, John. He’s a corrupt, corporate Democrat-in-name-only who not only prioritizes the Israel lobby’s interests over his constituents in exchange for $1.57 million in campaign checks, but he is also using this horrific genocide to pad his personal portfolio.

This is why we need fewer Democrats like Torres and more working-class progressive leaders who reject AIPAC and fight for the human rights of ALL people.
