When I started Democracy Docket in 2020, I dreamed that it would someday become a vital part of the pro-democracy information ecosystem. But, to be honest, I never imagined it would become as important to as many people as it has.
I want you all to know how seriously I take that responsibility. I read your comments — your hopes, fears, suggestions and encouragement — and take them to heart. I am touched by how many of you have said that the community at Democracy Docket is helping make this difficult time in our history a little bit easier. Democracy Docket continues to exist and thrive thanks to your loyal readership and support. Your warmth and support helps me through these times as well.
At the end of the piece, Darcy asked me about the Democracy Docket’s future growth. Here is what I said:
"We don't have any investors. There is no corporate backing. There is no venture capital. We will grow our coverage to meet our readership and so if people like what we are doing, we will grow. We will add more content. We will add more reporters. We will add more verticals. We exist to provide information for those who want it."
The beauty of democracy is that it is ultimately in your hands. So is the future of Democracy Docket. I would not have it any other way.
