Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce

Congressman Sessions speaks at the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce |
This week marks the end of the August district work period. Next week, I head back to Washington to resume legislative business. It has been a busy and rewarding week in TX-17. Last Friday, I had the opportunity to speak with the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce in a state of the nation discussion. I appreciated hearing from local leaders and business owners about the challenges they face and the opportunities ahead. It is an honor to represent Nacogdoches in Congress and ensure your voices are heard in Washington.

Congressman Sessions, Senator Cornyn, and President Weaver say Axe 'Em! |
On Monday, I was back behind the Pine Curtain to join Senator Cornyn at Stephen F. Austin State University for a roundtable with students, President Neal Weaver, and leaders from Angelina College, Kilgore College, Panola College, Tyler Junior College, and Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas. We discussed how Congress has strengthened Pell Grants through the One Big Beautiful Bill to help East Texans pursue higher education and meet the needs of our growing economy. As your Congressman, I remain committed to backing legislation that directly expands economic opportunity for Texans. I enjoyed hearing directly from our education community the importance of supporting the workforce in East Texas. Thanks to SFA for hosting the event and leading the way by training up the next generation of leaders and preparing students for the workforce.

Skyraider II L3Harris Ribbon Cutting |

Congressman Sessions speaks at Skyraider II ribbon cutting |
On Wednesday, I was honored to take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony marking the start of L3Harris’s Skyraider II production line in Waco. The decision to bring this program to Waco reflects the city’s reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing, supported by a skilled and ready workforce. The Skyraider II will not only create high-quality jobs for Central Texans, but it will also deliver leading technology to strengthen our warfighters with the tools they need to succeed. Huntsville to Receive $1 Million
 |
Congressman Sessions and Huntsville officials announce $1 million grant to the city |
This week, I was proud to announce that the Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $1 million to the City of Huntsville for the rehabilitation of the N.B. Davidson Wastewater Treatment Plant. I worked to secure this funding through the Appropriations process to ensure Huntsville has the infrastructure it needs to keep pace with rapid growth in Texas. This investment will expand the plant’s capacity to serve a growing population while protecting water quality in Lake Conroe and Elkins Lake. Strengthening local infrastructure is essential for Huntsville’s future, and I am grateful this project will deliver long-term benefits to families and businesses across the community. Congressman Sessions visits Hotel 1928 |
This week in Waco, I had the opportunity to tour accommodations and dine at Hotel 1928. Waco is a premier destination in the heart of Texas, attracting visitors from around the world. With landmarks like Hotel 1928, Waco continues to strengthen its position as both a tourism hub and a welcoming community.

This week, I sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi to urge the Department of Justice to reject efforts to reschedule marijuana. The move would hand CCP-connected cartels an estimated $2 billion in annual tax breaks. Additionally, research continues to show the serious risks associated with marijuana use. Rescheduling marijuana is bad policy, no matter the administration. We must protect our children from predatory marijuana businesses that want to make them addicted consumers for life. You can read more, including a copy of the letter, here.
