Sometimes the news we've been waiting for arrives exactly when we need it most.
In Saint Lucia last month, judges in the nation's highest court struck down a colonial-era law that had criminalized same-sex intimacy for over a century. Just like that, love became legal. It's the kind of breakthrough that reminds us why we never stop fighting, even when the world feels heavy with setbacks.
"We've still got some good gay news," as our Director of Leadership Giving, Katie Hultquist, puts it—and August proved her right, showcasing how positivity and progress can help fuel our movement.
A Month of Unstoppable Momentum
From Kenya to the Philippines, our communities refused to be quiet this August.
In Kenya, a historic ruling lends a bright glimmer of hope for trans people’s human rights. A judge’s ruling pushes the government to draft and table a bill that recognizes and protects transgender people under the law. For communities who have long faced invisibility and hostility, this directive signals a chance for real, lasting change.
Meanwhile, in the Philippines, a movement is taking to the streets with energy and pride. Intersex Philippines has launched the groundbreaking I.N.T.E.R.S.E.X. campaign—a bold push to Inform the Nation, Transform Engagement, and Raise Support for Equality and eXistence. With Outright International backing the effort, the Intersex Caravan is already rolling into Albay, bringing visibility, solidarity, and hope to intersex communities who have too often been left out of the national conversation.
These weren't just isolated wins. They’re connected by shared courage, strategy, and persistence—and they remind us why staying engaged matters. Looking for context on the latest news? The Thread That Connects Us All
Whether it's a judge ruling to protect the rights of trans individuals or an intersex awareness caravan making waves, August reminded us that our movement is unstoppable. Our movement adapts, it grows, and it finds new ways to make change happen. As we gear up for Outsummit 2025, we're carrying this momentum forward—because the good news keeps coming when we keep making it happen together.
