Friend,

Over the last few months, we’ve witnessed a dangerous shift across the country: the Trump administration is expanding its power grab by militarizing our communities, disappearing our neighbors off the streets, and dismantling our fundamental rights.

NILC is fighting back with everything we’ve got to defend the rights and dignity of our immigrant neighbors — through advocacy, litigation, and strategic communications. Here's how we've been showing up in this crucial time:

We filed a critical lawsuit to stop Idaho’s HB 135, a dangerous law requiring immigration status checks for critical services like vaccines and life-saving care. Our work paid off with a federal judge granting us a preliminary injunction, temporarily blocking the law from going into effect — a significant win for our communities.

We filed a Freedom of Information Act request to uncover the truth about the federal government’s deployment of the National Guard during raids on cannabis farms in June and July. We refuse to let the militarization of immigrant communities and the erosion of democratic values go unchallenged.

We mobilized thousands of supporters like you to demand that Congress denounce the Everglades Detention Center and oppose the expansion of Trump’s gulag nationwide. A judge has now ordered the facility’s closure, which is a major step forward. Our work, however, is far from over. We remain committed to dismantling this system of cruelty, wherever it exists.

We produced a bilingual video with renowned illustrator Molly Crabapple that takes a big picture look at our immigration system, asking how we got to our present moment and who benefits from keeping the public divided. With over 4.8 million views and growing, our video is sparking conversations and shifting narratives.

And we demanded justice for the men disappeared to CECOT by exposing everything we knew about their detention and demanding their release. Though some men were released in July, others the U.S. sent may still be detained there. We’re keeping up the pressure until those responsible are held accountable.

This work is only possible because of people like you — standing with us, speaking out, and showing up.

We’re not backing down, and we need you with us. Your donation today — no matter the amount — keeps us prepared for whatever’s next. ([link removed])
