John, I’m no dummy. I know that you feel powerless right now. I know that watching the news feels difficult, and it can be easy to tune out. I know that it feels like MAGA has won.

But I have to tell you something unpopular: now is the time that we need to double down.

Trump is counting on the fact that we’ll feel too depressed and paralyzed to want to challenge him. He’s counting on his extremist followers and cronies to spout lies to look infallible and unbeatable.

I know that you’re looking to your leaders to fight back, and I need you to know that I’ve always had that fight in me – and it’s not going anywhere now that things are really hard. I’m going to fight for this country, just like I fought after losing my son.

But we need you to stay in this fight too. Democrats are being kneecapped by our minority in Congress, and we’re being kneecapped by apathy. We can keep up the fight, but part of that means taking back the House.

That means that it’s never been more critical that Democrats in purple states like me hold their seats. Republicans are gunning for Congressional pickup opportunities, and are literally redrawing maps all over the country to retain their majority.
