We have three weeks to speak up in support of our national forests. Submit your public comment by September 19th: [link removed]

Dear Friend,

The last remaining undeveloped lands within our national forests provide homes for wildlife, filter drinking water, provide recreational opportunities, and contain magnificent old-growth forests that absorb and store carbon, helping us to fight climate change.

Now 45 million acres of our national forests are at risk of being logged for corporate gain and we need you to speak up for our public lands. [link removed]

Following up on promises to ramp up logging - including clear-cutting - across federal forests, the Trump administration has announced plans to obliterate the Roadless Rule, a landmark land-conservation policy that has protected many of the most pristine backcountry areas of our National Forest System against costly and harmful road building and logging since 2001.

This rule is one of the most critical policies that helps defend our forests. An official public comment period has just opened to rescind it, and we only have 21 days to voice our opposition to Trump’s plan. [link removed]

The Roadless Rule has protected our wildest national forest lands from road building and logging for more than a generation. The Trump administration wants to throw these forest protections overboard so the timber industry can make huge money by punching roads into the backcountry and hauling public forests away to the sawmill. These are lands that belong to all Americans, not the timber industry.

Your comments will be considered during this rulemaking process, so we need to show how popular this policy still is. When this rule was enacted, 1.6 million people commented – now is the time to speak up again in big numbers.

Tell the U.S. Forest Service: we need the Roadless Rule to protect our forests. [link removed]

Sincerely,
Blaine Miller-McFeeley
Senior Legislative Representative
