Listen, I may be a relative newcomer to politics, but I believe that gives me a fresh perspective and a different way of looking at things. And importantly, I’m not wedded to the idea that Republicans will wake up and do the right thing. Look. We now have ample evidence that the Republican Party of Ronald Reagan and Mitt Romney is dead. Democrats need to wake up and recognize that this is Donald Trump’s movement now. We need to be a party of fighters. When Donald Trump and his MAGA allies kick thousands of kids off Medicaid just to give themselves a tax cut, you’re damn right I’m going to call it out. When Trump illegally rounds up immigrants with no due process, in explicit violation of the law, you’re damn right I won’t stay silent. And when he tries to blame and vilify LGBTQ+ people to distract us from his own failures, you’re damn right I’m going to defend every single person’s right to live openly as who they are — safely, freely, and with dignity.
