__________
13 MILLION MEXICANS RESCUED FROM POVERTY
[[link removed]]

_Jorge Rodríguez-Jiménez_ / mitú (Los Angeles)

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum celebrated the number of those out
of poverty due to AMLO’s policies. The Mexican government created
multiple policies aimed at addressing the nation’s poverty rates.
Mexicans over 65 years old receive a bimonthly transfer of 6,200 pesos
($330) is the most direct line of help.

__________
SOCIAL MEDIA UNLEASHES PROTEST IN INDONESIA
[[link removed]]

Tempo English (Jakarta)

NEWS of a large-scale demonstration in front of the House of
Representatives (DPR) building on Monday, August 25, initiated by a
movement calling itself the “Indonesian People’s Revolution,”
has circulated on social media. They call on civil society groups,
including workers, farmers, and students, to take to the streets.

__________
UKRAINE AND THE US LEFT
[[link removed]]

_Ilya Budraitskis and Tanya Vyhovsky_ / Posle

Allowing Ukraine to fall is not a movement toward anti-militarism.
It’s a movement toward anti-democracy. Asking a sovereign nation to
give up its land, to be occupied, to once again live under the
oppressive occupying force of another country — that is not peace.

__________
THE PAN AMERICAN CONGRESS
[[link removed]]

_Valeria Duarte Galleguillos_ / NACLA Report (New York)

The annual Pan American Congress, in its second edition, was held from
August 1st to 3rd in the vicinity of the National Palace and the
Senate of the Mexican Republic. For three days, participants analyzed
the crises presented by fascism and brainstormed strategies for
combating them.

__________
NEW E-BOOK: MANIFESTO OF THE SOCIALIST MOVEMENT
[[link removed]]

_Michael Hauser_ / transform! Europe (Vienna)

_Manifesto of the Socialist Movement_ by Czech philosopher, educator,
and Marxist thinker Michael Hauser offers a clear, principled
alternative far-right populism: a renewed socialism grounded in
democratic values, historical reflection, and class analysis.

__________
NEW DIRECTION FOR THE SOUTH AFRICAN CP
[[link removed]]

_Brian Ashley_ / Zabalaza for Socialism

The South African Communist Party’s (SACP) decision to stand
independently of the African National Congress (ANC) in the coming
local government elections deserves to be welcomed. The fact that the
SACP has now resolved to stand on its own represents a potential step
forward.

__________
DOES THE ISRAELI LEFT HAVE A FUTURE?
[[link removed]]

_Gil Shohat _/ Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung (Berlin)

The protest camp, which had been in a state of extreme exhaustion, has
been reinvigorated. Demonstrations are becoming more frequent, slogans
more pointed, and the suffering of the Palestinians is slowly finding
its way into the dominant liberal circles of the pro-ceasefire protest
movement against the government.

__________
ECOSOCIALISM AND DEGROWTH
[[link removed]]

_Michael Löwy_ / Monthly Review (New York)

The ecological crisis is already the most important social and
political question of the twenty-first century, and will become even
more so in the coming months and years. The future of the planet, and
thus of humanity, will be decided in the coming decades.

__________
MARX AND THE GERMAN CONSTITUTION
[[link removed]]

Harici.com.tr (Istanbul)

On April 8, the “Marxist School of Politics and Culture Forum”
(Masch) won its case against the State Office for the Protection of
the Constitution (LfV) in the Hamburg Administrative Court. But this
legal victory could backfire like a boomerang and pose a danger to all
Marx reading circles in Germany.
