One of the things that makes this community so powerful is how quickly we adapt—together, and at scale—to changing maps, shifting districts, or new developments in the political environment. When the landscape changes, we make sure your time and money are going where they’ll have the biggest impact on helping Democrats win critical races that will unseat Republicans and swing the national balance of power. Working collectively, to direct our grassroots resources to the right places, is a mighty thing. So with all the news about redistricting over the last few weeks, we wanted to share an update on how California’s ballot measure impacts our current targets to flip the House in 2026.

 
📍 Based on the proposed congressional maps that Californians will vote on in November, we are pausing our work in three of our priority House districts (CA-27, CA-41, and CA-47). We want to be confident our targeted swing districts are the best use of your support. With the November ballot measure likely to change these districts’ competitiveness, investing in voter contact work or donating to them is not our top recommendation right now.
 
Since a lot has been shifting lately, we thought it’d also be a good time to check in and make sure you have a clear view of how we’re prioritizing our work to help Democrats win the House:

- California’s redistricting ballot initiative: Swing Left is supporting Governor Newsom’s ballot measure because it’s a strategic way to counter Republican gerrymandering in Texas and help ensure we can flip the House in the 2026 election. - Competitive House races across the country: Meanwhile, we’re continuing to do early (and critical) fundraising and voter contact work in 22 key swing districts, to bolster next year’s Democratic campaigns. - Ground Truth pilot canvasses: Ground Truth is our big new initiative designed to transform the way Democrats—including grassroots organizers and volunteers like us—talk with voters. These initiatives all support one goal: flipping the House and putting a real check on Trump and MAGA in 2026. With your support, we’re working now to make sure Democrats have the edge when and where it matters most.
