Hi team - Qasim asked me to check in with you specifically. If you are a new follower of our campaign, I’m Qasim’s Finance Director. That means I’m in charge of making sure he has the resources to connect with voters district wide and get his message out.
My role also means I’m the one reporting to the Federal Election Commission for our quarterly deadlines. When I say report, I mean that I actually fill out paperwork that outlines every penny in our campaign account. I also track our contributions and flag for Qasim if any PAC or dark money contributions hit the account. I can honestly tell you that Qasim refuses to take corporate PAC or dark money and our report will prove that.
If you are new to politics, it may be hard to understand the significance of this report. But imagine if you had to report your bank account - every payment made and every payment received - to the media. That’s pretty much what we are doing tomorrow.
This part is important: Rob Wittman and his team will be scouring our report to find proof that we don’t have the resources to compete in November.
We need to make sure he sees we are in this to win and we have the grassroots strength to bring a victory home. That’s where our goal of an additional 872 grassroots donations comes into play. We know if we can hit that goal, it will be an undeniable proof of strength.

Thanks and feel free to let me know if you have any questions about this deadline and what it means. I hope this description helps…

Tino - can you check in with our supporters and explain what the FEC deadline means? We have a lot of first time donors and political activists backing us. I feel like they will not naturally know the significance of tomorrow’s deadline.
