For decades the radical left has been attempting to abolish local police departments and replace them with a national police force which would be responsible to a powerful central government.
With the constant scrutiny from the media and the pressure from radical street agitators and local and federal governments, it has never been a more dangerous time to be a police officer.
With each allegation of so-called “police brutality," the pressure from below leads to further pressure from above in the form of increased federal oversight which makes it more difficult for our police officers to effectively serve and protect our communities.
If the current extremist demands to defund the police are successful, local police departments will have to turn to the federal government for grants.
However with federal grants come federal controls and regulations. Police departments would likely have to adopt and implement federal standards and tactics in order to receive these grants which would deepen the federal government’s authority over local police.
In 1963 we started the Support Your Local Police campaign to help support our local officers. A key part of supporting your local police is convincing police departments to reject any federal grants that may come their way. That’s why we encourage you to either join an existing ad-hoc committee or create a new one in your area.
As part of an SYLP committee you and the members of your committee work together to not only support your local police officers but also to EDUCATE both the public and the local police about the pressures they face from the federal government and hostile anti-police groups.
SYLP committees do so by handing out informative educational materials and also host events such as educational presentations which can all be found at JBS.org.
We also urge you to order our most recent July 6th issue of The New American magazine, What’s Really Behind the Riots. Americans need to know what is really behind these anti-police riots, so that they do not give in to the radical demands of the organizers.
Since there will be a limited amount of the physical issue, we are also providing a FREE PDF of this issue, so merely give us some contact information and we’ll email you a link to it. All of the links are provided below in the Act Now section!
We finally ask that you use our online legislative alert to contact Congress and President Trump to say no to police reform measures! It is imperative that we continue to support our local police and keep them independent from federal control.
