North Carolinians Against Gun Violence joins our nation to grieve yesterday’s shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis that stole the lives of two children and injured seventeen others during a routine all-school mass for pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students. We stand with the children, families, educators, first responders, and community members whose lives will never be the same because of gun violence.
As classes return this month across the state, we vow to stand up for our children and communities. Our children deserve to be safe at school; teachers should not be worried about school shooting drills when planning for a new year; and parents deserve a world where they know their kids will make it home from school each day. This is the reality of weak gun laws that put communities at risk. We cannot afford to weaken gun safety laws and must continue to invest in community violence intervention programs across our state. If you, like us, are hoping to channel your grief into ACTION, join us in our fight to keep North Carolina safe from gun violence: |
