Hey folks! Rita Hart here. |
I’m sure by now you’ve heard the great news! Catelin Drey won the special election in Senate District One on Tuesday, flipping the seat from red to blue and ending the Republicans’ supermajority in the legislature! What makes Drey’s achievement even more impressive is that her district voted for Trump in 2024 by over ten points. This is now the fourth straight Democratic overperformance in Iowa legislative special elections this year, a great sign of things to come. |
Our mission to take back our state and restore commonsense leadership is now one step closer. I’m fully confident that Catelin Drey will perform admirably as our Senator; she’ll listen to her constituents, help get our economy growing again, and bring down costs for families across the state. |
Iowans needed a change in leadership. Thanks to the voters in Senate District One, we got one. Every day we’ll fight to get more of it. I appreciate your continued involvement and support of the Iowa Democratic Party. |

Sincerely, Rita Hart IDP Chair |
