I want to pause for a moment from the rush toward our first Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing deadline since winning our primary election here in the battleground of Georgia.
In a moment, I’ll ask you to pitch in $15 or whatever you can to help us hit this critical FEC goal — but first I want to talk about why it’s so important.
In our primary, we saw historic levels of Democratic turnout. More than 84,000 people voted in the Democratic primary,
25% above the Republican turnout. And around 50% of the Democrats had never voted in a Democratic primary before!
The contrast between our campaign and our GOP opponent’s couldn’t be more stark. We won our race by bringing together a diverse coalition of middle class families who are concerned about the future of this country. Our campaign was powered by thousands of middle class families chipping in what they could and volunteering where they could.
Meanwhile, Rich McCormick won solely because a Washington corporate special interest PAC poured over $1 million into his race. This is precisely the problem with American politics today and these big money special interests are destroying this country.
McCormick is supporting a President whose racist and anti-immigrant policies are tearing our country apart, who has no respect for the rule of law or our democratic institutions… and Trump is supporting McCormick in return.
McCormick is backing the President’s lawsuit to dismantle the Affordable Care Act (ACA), cutting protections for people with pre-existing conditions and ensuring that the already staggering number of uninsured in this district skyrockets.
And with the President already running campaign ads in Georgia, all eyes are on our campaign. Unless our FEC report reflects our massive grassroots support, McCormick’s dark money allies will label us an easy target and flood the district with cash.
Click here to pitch in $15 or more to make sure we raise the final $26,611 we need to hit our critical FEC goal before midnight tomorrow:
Thank you so much for your steadfast support.
Carolyn
