The Trump administration has made their playbook clear: they’re targeting Democratic cities and using them as a testing ground to see just how much he can get away with. And cities led by Black women have been the first targets of his political overreach.

He tried it in Los Angeles first, deploying the National Guard and sending federal agents without invitation. He threatened Los Angeles and Mayor Bass with a federal takeover and green-lit violent immigration raids in our city.

He tried it next in Washington, D.C., ordering Mayor Bowser to hand over control of her police department and sending armed National Guard troops to patrol the streets.

Now, he’s signaling that other cities across the country could be next.

Mayor Bass is taking this fight nationwide. She’s standing with Mayor Bowser as Trump tests his power in DC, and she took to CNN and MSNBC this week to stand united in the face of Trump’s threats to send the National Guard to other cities.
