Dear Friend,

My name is Jason D. Williamson, and I’m excited to introduce myself to you as the new Executive Director of the National Center for Law and Economic Justice! As just the sixth Executive Director in NCLEJ’s storied 60-year history, it is my great honor to join the ranks of this exceptional organization—especially in such a pivotal moment in this country’s evolution.

I previously served as Executive Director at the Center on Race, Inequality, and Law at NYU School of Law, and spent more than a decade as a staff attorney and deputy director with the ACLU’s Criminal Law Reform Project. I also have had the distinct privilege of teaching the Racial Justice and Abolition Clinic at NYU School of Law since 2015.

Given our work at the intersection of economic justice, racial equity, and disability rights, NCLEJ is uniquely positioned to answer the urgency of the moment. As the federal government continues its shameful assault on democracy and the rule of law, weaponizing its resources and authority to target the most vulnerable people and communities among us, our mission is more important than ever.

Low-income families, communities of color, and disability rights activists across the country are counting on us to fight back. And we are committed to using every tool we have at our disposal to do just that—with your help!

As NCLEJ begins this next chapter, I would like to ask for your support. Like most nonprofits, we rely on the generosity of individuals like you to fulfill our mission. ([link removed])

Our lawyers aren’t just experts in their respective fields—they understand that inspiration is the bridge between mission and movement. They know that poverty, racial oppression, and discrimination against people with disabilities are all interrelated, and that one cannot be eradicated without confronting the others.

Needless to say, we have a lot of work to do, and we hope you will stand with us. From opposing the Trump administration’s illegal attempts to gain access to the private data of SNAP recipients, to combating racially discriminatory policing practices in Buffalo, to supporting 24-hour homecare workers against extreme wage theft by their employers, we are fighting to dismantle structural inequality and build the foundations for a better future.

Please take this opportunity to help build that future with us. You won’t regret it. ([link removed])

In Solidarity,

Jason D. Williamson
Executive Director, NCLEJ
