Dear John,
For any public official, advancing the health and well-being of one's community, state, or nation should be the highest goal. As an ER Doc, I have devoted my professional life to help my patients in their time of need. Now as our only physician-legislator, I do the same for my community and all of Pennsylvania.
It is dangerous and tragic that Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. view their job as decimating public health. Yesterday, they fired or forced to resign the entire leadership of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. [[link removed]]
What was the reason? These public health leaders would not rubber stamp the anti-scientific and false ideology that vaccines hurt people. Simply put, these CDC leaders were trying to protect vaccine access that has been estimated to save over 150 million people worldwide over the last 50 years. For that, they lost their jobs.
Today, I am introducing legislation (HB 1828) to protect vaccine access in Pennsylvania, relying on our Department of Health and professional medical societies for recommendations rather than RFK, Jr.'s hand-picked ideologues. The legislation has received media coverage and may serve as a model to protect vaccine access through our state governments. [[link removed]]
There is nothing more important to me than protecting public health. But as we can see, none of this is easy. I need your help in this dangerous health AND political environment.
