Hey John, it's Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
I played a narcissistic, megalomaniac sociopath who became president of the United States on the TV show Veep. Does that remind you of anyone?
Yeah. Only this time, it's not so funny.
Donald Trump is rolling out the red carpet for Big Oil while communities across the country are crushed by record-breaking heat and climate disasters. He’s even treating our public lands like some kind of fossil fuel clearance sale.
That’s why I'm all-in to support my dear friend Jane Fonda's climate PAC. She’s working to elect climate champions — from city councils to Congress — who can take on Trump’s fossil fuel agenda and actually deliver solutions for people like you. Jane tells me her team needs to reach their $30,000 goal by Sunday's deadline — can you chip in whatever you can to help?
I’ve seen Jane’s commitment to this fight up close.
When she came on my podcast Wiser Than Me, she asked if I’d join her in taking on Big Oil’s massive referendum campaign here in California. I obviously said yes. (Can you say no to Jane Fonda?) Together, we helped defeat a $60 million effort by the oil industry to overturn protections for our communities.
Now, Jane and I are teaming up again, this time to stop a Texas oil company trying to restart the pipeline that spilled over 120,000 gallons of crude oil off the coast of Santa Barbara back in 2015. What I’ve learned from working alongside Jane is this: When Washington won’t protect us, we have to build power everywhere else.
That’s what JanePAC does. State and local leaders have become our last safeguard against Trump’s assault on environmental protections, reproductive freedom, and even democracy itself.
You may not hear about county commissioners or city council races on your news alerts, but those leaders can shield their communities from corporate polluters and Trump's merry band of yes-men when federal leadership fails.
Here's the problem: These climate champions are too often outspent by candidates backed by oil and gas money. We see it all the time. That's where grassroots supporters like you come in to level the playing field so the good guys can actually win.
I know Jane would never ask you for something she didn't believe in completely. And I wouldn't be writing this email if I didn't think these races were critical to our climate future. So what do you say, John? Can you help Jane hit this $30,000 goal by chipping in $5, $25, or whatever you can before Sunday's deadline?

Every dollar goes directly to supporting climate champions in crucial races who will choose clean air over corporate profits.
Thanks for everything,
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
